Wednesday, November 19, 2003 JC Challenge - Day Three
I just came back from hall 3 where my mentees are staying. They have to present their project proposal tomorrow. Seemed to me they were fine. But at the end I got to know that they were on a fight about the project. All of them had agreed on the proposal, except 1 boy, he was so stuborn and couldn't take other's opinion. He insisted to do the slides and do presentation by himself... and he did it freshly on his own, he never tried to consider the proposal his group mate had already done since yesterday. I'd tried to settle this problem, and all of them had agreed to combine the ideas together, between theirs and his. But still... he was so stuborn, he just couldn't work in a team. He said 'yes', but still did different things, even his friend told me that he is like 'sotong'. The situation there was quite tense. Then everybody left him alone to do, I decided to stay with him, doing the presentation slides, in case anything wrong happened. Then I received SMS from another student, he said sorry thing things happened. It was not their fault, I just wished I could be more helpful. . Am I getting too involved? I supposed all student mentors were doing their own things except me.
Let's stop talking about sad things. Actually today was fun. As planned, I skipped morning programme, but I still joined them for lunch and went to Unaxis for plant visit. We had lots of fun there, our group was very lively. We gossiped along the way, starting from lunch break till dinner, the topic ranged from six packs guy in hall 3 till hot boys and gals in their school. Hehehe...
When we're going off from Unaxis, Prof Yip asked me to count the number of students. I counted my mentees wrongly, Jan said there were 13 of them, but I only counted 11. We argued in the bus [of course with jokes], we were standing around the center of the bus and it was obvious to everybody... Jan said 13, I insisted 11, even all students said "Ying Ying... it's 13, we are all here". The I counted again, again, again and again, and still I insisted 11. Then suddenly Hui Min and Bernadine from the end row shouted "Ying Ying, you didn't count us!!". They said I acted funny, and decided to use this to bully me 'till friday.... Yeah they did mention this silly thing over and over again during dinner time. They asked me to head count them for almost every 15 minutes, and if I gave my answer... they always said... "No!! It's 11!" [copying my voice tone and gesture when I said '11' in the bus]. Malu lah! .
Today I got chance to shoot using air rifle gun. It was heavy, but I managed to shoot at the target. Our group was the noisiest, we applauded and cheered anyone in the group who could shoot at the target. They took photo of me shooting with the gun also Hihihi.... Wow... it was fun and as always, we gossiped while waiting hehehehe.... Then after that, at Nanyang House, we got chance to take group photos with the sunset. So romantic!!!
Oh Ya, Nan got photo of me and Jan in her handphone. It was very cute, our face was very round and smiley hahaha...
